Farnfields Annual Charity Golf Day raising awareness for breast cancer
£3,000.00 has been raised at the annual Farnfields Solicitors Charity Golf Day for Shaftesbury Breast Cancer Awareness Charity (Boobs).6/6/23
The winning team of the main Stableford event was Dextra based in Dorset. (pictured).
24 teams participated in the event, which was held at Rushmore Golf Club, Tollard Royal, with a chance to win a car on the 17th hole by scoring a hole in one. The car was safe this time!
Julian Alahakoon, Partner at Farnfields said, “The annual golf day is a fantastic opportunity to raise money for our charities of the year and our heartfelt thanks go to all those that participated either by playing golf and or through sponsorship. We had fantastic gifts donated to the raffle and silent auction from local organisations which really added to the event and helped to raise money for the charity. The smooth running of the day is down to the staff at Rushmore Golf Club and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their continued support and help with this event.”
Shaftesbury Breast Cancer Awareness Charity (Boobs) was launched in 2014 in memory of their beautiful friend Claire who lost her battle to Breast Cancer at the age of 35 and this is her legacy as she showed her friends what true courage, strength and beauty is.
Roxy from the charity explains more “We are a local registered charity that aim to raise awareness of breast cancer in women and men and teach how to check your breasts to help early detection. Not only is our aim to promote awareness but also to support women, men and their families who have been or are going through treatment.”
Adding “We can help financially with the added costs of going for treatment and appointments and also for costs of wigs, mastectomy bras etc. Above all else we can help with emotional support and mental wellbeing by paying for therapies and counselling if anyone should need it. We also have a deep will to empower our breast cancer warriors by helping them feel beautiful once again, we can help by paying for beauty treatments such as semi-permanent eyebrows as chemotherapy can leave ladies without and also things like tattoos over scars from surgery etc.”

The support group also runs once a month at Shaftesbury youth club 11:00 until 13:00 on the 3rd Saturday. The financial help currently spans the SP7, SP8 and SP3 areas as well as Mere and we hope to grow and help further afield in the future.
Another way the charity help is by getting chemotherapy care packages out to local hospitals to help ladies starting out on their treatment journey, they aim to ensure every person going through the breast cancer unit to be able to receive one of these amazing, thoughtful bags.
Shaftesbury Breast Cancer Awareness Charity (Boobs) are Farnfields Solicitors nominated charity of the year, supported through this year’s annual Golf Day and other activities including Dress Down Days.
