Our Approach to Development

As a firm we engage with our staff about personal development and place importance on fostering a friendly, supportive work environment where everyone can do their best and talent can flourish and grow.  We recognise talent and believe in supporting our staff if they are looking to progress their careers in specific areas of law and business; for support staff and lawyers.  We know our staff’s different career aspirations and identify relevant goals, keep these under review and provide help and support as needed along the way.

We tailor training and development to ensure it meets individual needs and have a variety of different programmes, ranging from in-house training courses for professional development to attending external courses organised by LawNet, MBL and other providers.  It is important our staff are motivated so we want to provide varied and challenging work and tend to work at a fast pace!

There are different career paths in law to suit personal training preferences, to name a few we offer great opportunities for training contracts, legal administration apprenticeships and work experience programmes where we are keen to support students in the local community.

We have a grow our own culture and have a strong track record in supporting staff to develop in their legal careers.  We proactively talk to staff about training needs, whether to fill gaps in knowledge and skills, to enhance performance or for the important next steps in career progression.

Staff are encouraged to take ownership of their training programmes and to ensure their continuing professional development plans are ongoing and kept up to date.  Our Training Partner monitors training plans to ensure they meet business targets and are working well.
